Kolkata, Feb 25 – Mohammed Salim has been re-elected as the state secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)]’s West Bengal unit, a decision made unanimously during the party’s 27th conference held in Dankuni, Hooghly district.
The conference saw the election of an 80-member state committee, which also included 14 women, reflecting the party’s commitment to gender representation. This marks Salim’s second consecutive term as state secretary, highlighting his continued leadership within the party.
Notably, the newly elected state committee features 11 members who are serving for the first time, bringing fresh perspectives to the party’s initiatives. The four-day state conference is set to conclude on Thursday.
During the conference, Salim emphasized the importance of addressing contemporary challenges facing West Bengal, including political dynamics, unemployment, and issues within the education sector. The discussions aim to formulate strategies to tackle these pressing concerns effectively.
