Abhay Chautala named INLD chief; Rampal Majra remains state unit president.

Chandigarh, Mar 25 – Abhay Singh Chautala has been appointed as the national president of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on Tuesday, while Rampal Majra retains his position as the chief of the party’s Haryana state unit.

The INLD has undergone a reorganization of its national and state executive, leading to these new appointments. Chautala, who is 62 years old, was selected for the leadership role following discussions during a meeting of the party’s Parliamentary Working Committee.

Previously, the INLD was led by Abhay’s father, Om Prakash Chautala, a former chief minister of Haryana, who passed away in December at the age of 89. In light of this transition, Majra announced that Abhay Chautala has been empowered to appoint office bearers across various positions to facilitate the party’s organizational growth.

In a statement, Abhay Chautala expressed his commitment to advancing the policies of Chaudhary Devi Lal and realizing the aspirations of his late father, Om Prakash Chautala. He plans to embark on a mass contact tour throughout the state, aiming to visit 10 to 12 villages daily to engage with the community.

Additionally, Abhay Singh Chautala has been appointed as the chairman of the party’s Parliamentary Affairs Committee, which includes members Sher Singh Badshahmi, Prakash Bharti, Rampal Majra, R S Chaudhary, M S Malik, and Kamal Nagpal.

The INLD also made several other appointments within its national and state executive, reaffirming Majra’s role as the state president of the Haryana unit. Furthermore, the party has designated state unit presidents for Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh, along with appointing district unit chiefs in Haryana.
