Palghar appoints its first female collector, marking a significant milestone for the district.

Palghar, Apr 3 – Dr. Indurani Jakhar has made history by becoming the first female collector of the tribal-dominated Palghar district in Maharashtra.

Upon taking office on Wednesday, Dr. Jakhar emphasized her dedication to enhancing the education and health sectors, as well as improving the welfare of the district’s diverse population. She is committed to ensuring that significant infrastructure projects are completed on schedule. These projects include the Vadhavan Port, Reliance Textile Park, the Mumbai-Vadodara expressway, the dedicated freight corridor, the bullet train initiative, and the Virar-Dahanu suburban four-laning project.

In addition to her focus on infrastructure, Dr. Jakhar highlighted her intention to address socio-economic disparities and environmental issues affecting the district. She aims to promote sustainable development within the tribal communities, ensuring that their needs and concerns are prioritized.

Before her appointment in Palghar, Dr. Jakhar served as the commissioner of the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation in the neighboring Thane district, where she gained valuable experience in public administration.
