Nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar releases her first recipe book, promoting healthy eating habits.

New Delhi, Jun 11 – Renowned nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar is set to release her first recipe book titled “Mitahara: Food Wisdom From My Indian Kitchen,” which emphasizes the importance of food, cooking, and sharing in creating lasting legacies. The book, published by Dorling Kindersley (DK) and featuring a foreword by actor Varun Dhawan, will hit bookstores on July 16.

“Mitahara” is inspired by the ancient Indian philosophy of mindful and moderate eating, encouraging readers to appreciate the flavors, textures, and seasonal aspects of traditional foods. Diwekar highlights the diminishing diversity in modern eating habits, warning that the joy of sharing meals and connecting with others through food is at risk of being lost.

In her book, Diwekar takes readers on a culinary journey through the seasons, rekindling memories of forgotten foods and familiar tastes. She provides guidance on meal planning for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, aiming to inspire clean and healthy eating practices.

The concept for “Mitahara” emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when Diwekar found solace in cooking. She reflects on how her relationship with cooking transformed during this period, stating, “Cooking became therapeutic, and I woke up every day longing to cook more.” This newfound passion not only changed her kitchen dynamics but also her perspective on life.

Diwekar eloquently compares cooking to love, describing it as both complicated and simple, filled with romance and meaning. She believes that cooking should resonate with everyone, which is why she felt compelled to share her insights through this book.

Furthermore, Diwekar emphasizes that recipes are not exclusive to one chef or kitchen but are a collective heritage built through the contributions of many, including mothers and grandmothers who have nurtured families through their culinary skills.

With “Mitahara,” Rujuta Diwekar aims to revive the joy of cooking and sharing meals, fostering a deeper connection to food and culture in today’s fast-paced world.
