Two Lucknow police officers suspended for failing to act during Summit Building clashes.

Lucknow, Sep 1 – Two police personnel were suspended on Monday due to alleged negligence in handling two violent incidents reported in the city. The suspension follows the filing of two separate FIRs at the Vibhutikhand police station on August 30, which detailed incidents of assault, gunfire, and threats involving multiple individuals near the Summit Building complex.

The police reports indicate serious allegations of physical assault and threats to life. In one incident, a complainant reported being attacked at a nightclub by a group of men. In another case, a different complainant accused several individuals of halting his vehicle and attacking him with firearms, resulting in injuries.

The Lucknow Police Commissionerate issued a statement on Monday announcing the immediate suspension of Inspector Sunil Kumar Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Vibhutikhand, and Sub-Inspector Suryasen Kumar Singh, the outpost in-charge of the Summit Building. The statement cited their negligence and failure to take appropriate action in relation to the two serious criminal cases registered on August 30, 2025. It emphasized that the suspended officials did not take “concrete action” regarding both incidents.

Senior police officers confirmed that further investigations are currently underway. The Summit Building, intended as a vibrant hub for cafes, restaurants, and nightlife, has gained notoriety for frequent public disturbances and late-night brawls, raising significant concerns about safety and public order in the area.
