Kolkata, Oct 23 – A tragic incident unfolded in Sonarpur, located in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, where a 30-year-old man named Santan Naskar was fatally stabbed by his neighbor following a dispute over music played at a Kali Puja pandal, according to police reports on Thursday.
The altercation began when Naskar turned off the sound system at the pandal after receiving a request from an elderly neighbor who suffers from a heart condition. Following this, the neighbor and his wife confronted Naskar at his home, demanding an explanation for the music being turned off.
The situation escalated into a heated argument, during which Naskar’s mother was allegedly assaulted by the couple, as detailed in the complaint filed by Naskar’s family. In an attempt to protect his mother, Naskar intervened, which led to the neighbor allegedly stabbing him multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Naskar was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities confirmed that the accused has since been arrested.
