Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 24 – A tragic accident occurred on Friday when a private bus heading to Hyderabad caught fire near Chinnatekur after colliding with a two-wheeler. The incident resulted in the deaths of 12 individuals, including the motorcyclist involved in the collision, as confirmed by a police official.
Initial reports indicate that approximately 40 passengers were aboard the bus at the time of the accident. The motorcycle collided with the bus and became lodged underneath, with its fuel cap open, which ignited the fire.
Kurnool Range DIG Koya Praveen reported to PTI that 19 passengers, including two children and two drivers, managed to survive the incident. The bus door jammed due to a short circuit, leading to the vehicle being completely engulfed in flames within minutes. Most of the survivors were aged between 25 and 35 years, according to police statements.
