Samastipur (Bihar), Oct 24 – Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar emphasized the state’s progress, attributing it to the substantial support from the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. He urged voters to support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming assembly elections during a rally in Samastipur district, which marked the launch of the Prime Minister’s campaign for these crucial elections.
Kumar criticized RJD president Lalu Prasad, indirectly referencing his past governance and the controversial transition of power to his wife, Rabri Devi, after Prasad’s resignation in 1997 due to a CBI charge-sheet related to the fodder scam. He stated, “He (Prasad) has not mended his ways. After having propped up his wife, he is now busy backing sons and daughters,” alluding to Tejashwi Yadav, the INDIA bloc’s chief ministerial candidate, and Misa Bharti, the Pataliputra MP.
Reflecting on his political journey, Kumar remarked, “I had brief alliances with his party, only to realize that it was a mistake and I was better off in the coalition I had been a part of since the beginning.” The JD(U) president has maintained a partnership with the NDA for the majority of his political career since the 1990s.
