Utah (USA), Oct 24 – Indian-American golfer Sahith Theegala commenced his participation in the Bank of Utah Championship with a solid performance, finishing the day at 3-under 68, placing him tied for 21st position, just three strokes behind the co-leaders.
Theegala began his round on the 10th hole, securing birdies on both the 10th and 15th holes to reach 2-under par. After dropping a shot on the first hole, he quickly regained momentum with a birdie on the Par-3 third hole, although he bogeyed the fourth hole at the Black Desert Resort course. He concluded his round with additional birdies on the seventh and ninth holes, bringing his score to 3-under for the day.
The co-leaders, Austin Cook, Thorbjørn Olesen, Jesper Svensson, and David Lipsky, each posted impressive scores of 6-under 65, placing them three shots ahead of Theegala.
Throughout the round, Theegala showcased exceptional driving skills, hitting nearly 93 percent of fairways and averaging an impressive 309 yards off the tee. He also achieved a solid 78 percent of greens in regulation. Despite missing a few birdie opportunities due to his putting, Theegala’s performance marked a confident start for the 2023 Fortinet Championship winner.
