Guwahati, Aug 5 – Reliance Jio has expanded its broadband services to over 365,920 homes across Assam, encompassing urban areas, smaller towns, and semi-urban clusters, as announced by the company on Tuesday.
In June, JioAirFiber, the 5G-powered Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service, gained 7,709 new users, bringing its total user base in Assam to 133,279, according to a company release.
Meanwhile, JioFiber, the wired broadband service, saw an increase in subscribers from 227,198 in May to 232,741 in June, marking an addition of 5,543 new connections.
The company emphasized that JioFiber is reinforcing its presence in key markets through a robust and scalable fiber-optic network.
This surge in user numbers underscores the rising demand for high-speed and reliable internet for various daily activities, including work, education, entertainment, and digital services.
The growth is attributed to an increase in internet usage throughout the state, with residents depending on broadband for a multitude of purposes, such as attending virtual classes, remote work, streaming content, accessing government services, and utilizing digital payment systems.
